What do you get if you take an extensively refurbished Scottish Baronial mansion, set it in 17 acres of manicured gardens and an extensive estate, add in an inspired Gleneagles-trained head chef, dedicated staff and a state of the art health and fitness club, complete with 12.5 metre pool? The answer is Douneside House. You may not have heard of it yet, but Douneside is destined to become one of the best hotel, dining, wedding and event venues in the region.

Douneside is part of the MacRobert Trust’s estate and has just opened its doors as a luxury country house hotel and restaurant. Previously, only military officers and their guests were able to take advantage of the picturesque grounds and amazing facilities.

You’ll find 14 beautiful guest rooms in the house itself, each decorated in a classic style with a contemporary twist. There are five guest cottages and four architect designed apartments of various sizes in the grounds. It’s also possible to hire Douneside on an exclusive basis, making it perfect for an intimate wedding of up to seventy guests, or for a corporate event.

In the restaurant at Douneside, Head Chef David Butters produces amazing dishes from the best local ingredients, including some from the hotel’s own garden. Booking is essential for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, or sample the tasting menu for a night to remember.

Work it off at the health club, featuring the pool, sauna and steam room, gymnasium, games room and an all-weather tennis court. There’s an extensive programme of fitness classes led by Douneside’s fully qualified instructors and membership options for local residents with discounts for junior and senior members. Douneside House may be Royal Deeside’s hidden treasure, but it’s time for you to discover it for yourself!
