There is now another option open to young people who do not want to leave school and/or home to study full time at university, especially if they have the opportunity of a job with development prospects. Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Aberdeen Business School has several young students, sponsored by their employers, on a part-time degree course whilst working in a variety of businesses.

RGU’s innovative Business Management course is delivered via a blend of face-to-face workshops and on-line distance activities. Students with no previous academic history can now achieve a BA degree, some in just a year, so for those who choose to go straight into employment it means they can still obtain a degree in the future when the time is right for them.

Susan Lawrie, Programme Leader, says, ‘It is hard work but the course is giving hundreds of people fresh opportunities to develop; it is flexible, accessible and provides a route for all ages and walks of life to expand their knowledge while doing their day job worldwide’.
