Travel expert Michelle Bavidge shares the highlights of the beautiful Oman…

How do you like to arrive at your hotel? A 4X4 adventure vehicle or scenic speedboat trip, or perhaps you would like to paraglide onto the beach below. Getting to Zighy Bay where your retreat waits couldn’t be easier, as it is located just a two hour private transfer from Dubai to this Eco paradise.

Each villa in this hotel is an oasis built of natural stone and warm woods, cloud-like beds, ergonomic pillows, and private outdoor and indoor bathrooms. Why not get refreshed outside in your own private infinity pool with a glass of something cold from your in-room wine cellar, lying within the privacy of high cobbled stone walls on your plumped up sun loungers  listening to the ocean a few steps away. You will be allocated a GEM (Guest Experience Manager) who is there to cater for your every need, from dinner reservations to excursions or just extra coffee for your own espresso machine.

One of the main highlights of this holiday for foodies will definitely be the dining experiences on offer at this Six Senses hotel. Breakfast is served at the Spice Market where a sumptuous Middle Eastern buffet awaits and if you want to try one of my favourites from the breakfast menu, Turkish eggs, you will be in for a treat – poached eggs, wilted spinach and chilli butter. Eat in either the Summer House for the best fine dining, providing steak and seafood delicacies which can be either enjoyed al fresco or in the candlelit restaurant.

For lighter evening meals you can opt for Zighy Bar which serves amazing tapas from an astounding menu. Alternatively you could book one of the truly unique dining experiences on offer here; Senses on the Edge is a lobster dinner served on top of the neighbouring mountain offering spectacular views over the crystal waters of the Gulf of Oman; or experience real Middle Eastern cuisine at the Shua Shack, a beach front setting in a bedouin style where you can eat lamb slow-cooked to perfection in an underground oven.

You could also enjoy private dining for two atop Zighy Bay’s wine cellar, or if all this seems a little overwhelming you can request a chef to cook on a private barbeque at the outdoor dining area of your villa.

There are many adventures awaiting you, with plenty to suit the active or guests who prefer to sit back and relax. Experiences such as a sunset cruise, dhow cruise, paragliding, mountain biking, Zighy Bay hike, snorkelling, hand-line fishing, Sabatyn 4X4, scuba diving and sea kayaking are all on offer at this beautiful haven. If you do want to sit back and watch the world go by order a Gin Fizz and fruit platter from the beach bar and soak up the Arabian sun.

Every guest receives the same effortless service from the moment they arrive, nothing is too much trouble at this 5 star eco-conscious hotel, you will be sad to leave but feel refreshed and de-stressed and ready to book your return visit.
