Luxury wellness clinic launches in Aberdeenshire with leading professor at the helm

From regenerative medicine to redefining ageing, Professor Rhoda MacKenzie is passionate about ensuring people have the right tools to live and look well. Having recently launched a luxury wellness and medical aesthetics clinic in a stunning corner of Aberdeenshire, she’s helping hundreds of clients to improve their lives for the better. In Professor MacKenzie’s eyes, achieving longevity goes beyond basic tips to truly understanding your body. That’s why her clinic, aptly called Age Reversal Therapies, offers premium medical aesthetics services as well as expert consultations and diagnostic tests for informed and empowered treatment. Trend caught up with Professor MacKenzie during a rare moment of quiet and found out why the unique offering in Sauchen is just the beginning.

“I went to medical school in Aberdeen and trained as a surgeon and originally started my medical aesthetics service in 2005,” she said. “My client list steadily grew until I opened a larger clinic here in Sauchen. Now, from the moment you walk in to be greeted by our wonderful receptionist Amanda, you can expect the ultimate customer experience.” Alongside aesthetics which include regenerative skin treatments, injectables for wrinkles and volume loss, laser treatments and microneedling, there is a huge focus on longevity and wellness. Dr Aileen Alexander who is a GP, lifestyle physician and longevity specialist, is now partnering with the clinic to bring a more comprehensive, preventative approach to health and wellbeing. She focuses on identifying the early, often hidden drivers of ageing such as metabolic health, inflammation, stress, menopause and nutritional imbalances, long before disease develops, creating personalised, evidence-based plans.

“Longevity medicine is increasingly being recognised as a medical speciality,” Professor MacKenzie said. “The importance of prevention is key in our offering of bespoke, personalised medicine as we move into an era of regenerative treatments. Many of our clients come to us in need of help and guidance, we are passionate about ensuring patients feel seen and heard.” Expert diagnostics enable Professor MacKenzie and the team to look at the whole person before deciding the best course of treatment. Clients can also work with menopause and women’s health professionals, and Professor MacKenzie believes women can sometimes struggle to get what they need from the NHS. “There is so much research available and many patients come to us armed with knowledge, we’re here to help them understand what may be going on with their body,” she said. As the only female professor offering aesthetics in Scotland, she also performs minor surgical procedures. This can include skin lesion removal alongside body and leg vein injections. Clients range in age, although the oldest regular is one of the clinic’s most glamorous – surely a ringing endorsement. “She’s in her late eighties and always impeccably turned out, she embodies our very mission here at the clinic,” said Professor MacKenzie. “We have always attracted discerning clients in search of treatments which can help them make the very most of life. Remember, ageing is inevitable, decline is optional.”
