Scott Harvey can be found on the pitch when he’s not in the kitchen at Howies. ’I’ve wanted to be a chef since I was five, so this is my dream job. I worked in restaurants all over Ayrshire before moving to the city. At one harbour-side restaurant, we’d watch the boat come in with fresh fish for us to prepare – amazing.
’Love brought me to Aberdeen six years ago, so my spare time revolves around the family, I also love watching and playing football, and playing the odd video game!
’At Howies, our style of cooking is all about fresh produce sourced as locally as possible. It’s great getting to know our suppliers and finding out exactly where our ingredients come from. I really enjoy cooking traditional dishes – such as Cullen skink – which feature on our menu here. Just good wholesome food.
’As our menus change with the seasons, we always know what ingredients are ready for us to work with. A lot of research will go into the changing of a dish, we’ll get inspiration from seasonal produce available, recipe books and things we’ve learned throughout our careers. It’s very much a team effort with us all sharing ideas and flavours.’
