Eat on the Green’s renowned chef owner, Craig Wilson, has been working with Food Waste Scotland to help cut food waste.  Here, he shares his top tips…

In Aberdeen, the shire and Moray, we dump over 46,000 tonnes of food waste in the North-east each year, adding to climate change and methane gas emissions from landfill. That’s £440 each household is literally chucking away each year. Think of what else you could spend it on!

Planning your weekly menus and sticking to your shopping list can save time, money and the planet. Don’t be tempted by bigger packs as you’ll end up throwing the contents away. Use a butcher or fishmonger when you can, and buy loose fruit and veg, or smaller packs. Keep it in the fridge and it’ll last up to two weeks longer.
