If you think preparing Christmas dinner for the family involves a lot of effort, spare a thought for head chef Jamie Havelock at Carmelite in the Merchant Quarter.

Carmelite’s Christmas season so popular, planning starts in February. By the time the last party is over, the team will have served up around 6500 meals.

That’s literally a tonne of beef, each succulently tender joint slow cooked for fourteen hours, almost 500kg of perfectly roasted turkey, 13,000 chipolatas and 19,000 Brussels sprouts.

The majority of the restaurant’s food products are sourced locally and all soups and sauces home-made too.

Carmelite is known for being eclectic and Christmas is no different – bring your party to a traditional party disco, or a cabaret theme night of live Motown or live Blues Brothers. You’ll get fabulous food, a great night out, and best of all, you leave the washing up to Jamie’s team, too!
