Fabulous for food
One of the principle attractions of becoming a Member of the Royal Northern & University Club is the superb dining facilities. The club is known for the excellence of its food, from hearty breakfasts to traditional dinners, fine dining and inventive vegetarian options.
Club Secretary Aidan McAleese explained, ‘We reopened our Dining Room on Monday 26th April with a brand new lunch menu from our Head Chef Kenny MacAskill which changes every fortnight. It’s a mix of favourites, like our battered fish and chips, game dishes in season and our steak and kidney pudding and new dishes which make the most of local produce. Our world cuisine nights are very popular too. We make our own tablet and serve it with every cup of tea or coffee. It is something of an institution
and some Members often pop in for a bit or two when passing.
Members and their guests can eat out on the patio and, under the current regulations, we can seat up to forty people between our Dining Room and Garden Room. We’re maintaining our excellence of service in our friendly and relaxed environment, albeit at reduced capacity with mask-wearing,
hand-sanitising and physical-distancing rules enforced.
We also offer private dining with bespoke menus and a focus on the personal touches. It’s a very flexible service so Members have creative freedom when designing their events.
Non-Members must be invited by a Member, or hold a valid Membership of a Reciprocal Club to dine here, but we also offer bespoke event catering packages – from drinks receptions, coffee meetings and working lunches to intimate celebrations and banquets.
