Luxe layers
Layering is the perfect combination of sophisticated style with cosy practicality. The trick is to know your fabrics, have a restrained colour palette and, above all, to avoid looking like you’ve just decided to wear all your clothes at once.
Look for base layers that provide insulation and lie close to the skin. Merino, cotton or cashmere vests or camisoles all work well. Stick to natural fabrics where possible as this reduces the risk of static shocks and frizzed up hair. Outer layers should be easily removable, so you can adjust to being inside or outdoors easily. Stick to one neutral base shade and liven it up with accessories in a different colour. Too many brights and clashing patterns can leave you looking like a 1980’s kids’ TV presenter.
Layering can give your summer favourites a new lease of life as we move into colder weather. Pop a t-shirt under a strappy summer dress and a jumper over it, add leggings and boots and you’re good to go.
