The best makeup looks to take you into spring

2020 is all about achieving a barely-there makeup look. Trend’s Shanay Taylor popped off to John Lewis in search of the latest ideas…

The start of a new decade brings the opportunity to restock your makeup bag and update your look. Chuck out that ancient mascara and the eyeshadow you’ve had since you were fourteen. Out with the old and in with the fabulous!

The smoky eye is being replaced with a natural nude look. Invest in Tom Ford’s two-tiered cream and powder eye colour (£50). Opt for Cool taupe and Sparkle White Reflection or Warm Golden Cream and Chocolate powder with gold pearl. It’s a look that works for day time or you can build the colour for a night out. Alternatively, the always-reliable Bobbi Brown’s Love Me in the Afternoon Palette (£29.20) offers eight versatile nude eye shadows in matte, metallic and chrome metal finishes.

Blusher is making a comeback, so go for a naturally rosy glow. Tom Ford’s Soleil Glow Stick (£42) has a wonderfully creamy texture that instantly brightens and enhances cheek bones.

Laura Mercier’s Cheek Canvas Cheek Palette (£36) has six limited-edition soft pink tones that will sculpt the face and leave you glowing all day long.

For most of us, achieving a no-makeup makeup look needs some help. Try Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow Primer (£39), which leaves your skin looking dewy and feeling nourished or head to the Clinique counter and pick up their calming Redness Solutions Mineral Pressed Powder (£21.60), which evens out skin tone with just a sprinkle.

Get your glow on for 2020.
