Our corner of the world has a long history of distilled spirits, but for the past century, the city hasn’t had its own gin distillery. Porter’s Gin is a premium boutique gin which has been lovingly crafted by Ben Iravani, owner of Orchid and 99 Bar and Kitchen, alongside Josh Rennie and Alex Lawrence.


The Porter’s Gin team started to develop their new tipple with the end point – a world class, smooth gin with a citrus twist – firmly in mind. Ben explained, ‘We all have experience in the drinks industry which allowed us to critically analyse the gins currently on the market, before setting out to create Porter’s Gin. We have combined modern and traditional distillation methods to create a very distinctive and unique tasting product’.

‘We recently set up our own city centre micro-distillery, but we spent a long time – and we’re talking years rather than months – working to perfect Porter’s Gin. We stuck to the principle that every botanical should be used for a precise reason.’

The distinctive gin is crafted using a unique fusion of traditional pot still distillation to bring out the best in the bold juniper body, melded with a cold distilling process for the lighter, fresher flavours derived from a selection of botanicals including pink peppercorns and Buddha’s hand, a citrus fruit grown in China.

Porter’s Gin is named in honour of Professor Porter of Aberdeen University, who assisted the team to source their cold distillation equipment, which imbues the final product with its distinguished citrus flavour profile.
