So far 2016 hasn’t been the best of years for the North-east, as oil prices have gone down, river levels have gone up, leaving many communities facing a massive clean-up operation.
In times of adversity, the people of Aberdeen City and Shire reached out to their friends, neighbours and complete strangers, offering spare beds, blankets, hot food and whatever was needed. Hotels provided free rooms and let people set up camp in their lounges until they could return home. Others set up social media pages that kept everyone up to date with road closures and rescue measures far more efficiently than official sources. We rallied, and rose to the occasion. Even in the darkest days of winter, we can look forward to spring.
So that’s what we’re doing for this issue. It’s time to pick ourselves up, refresh our wardrobes and enhance our lifestyles. It’s time to get out and about, to explore and to enjoy life. If this winter has taught us anything, it’s that we should never pass up the opportunity to try something new, go somewhere different or just have some fun. We have a wealth of fabulous businesses in this region and we’re here to shout about them. This year’s Life with Style Awards will let the people of the North-east realise there are a lot of great businesses on their doorsteps to enjoy!
