Ballater Highland Games
The Ballater Highland Games is known as the Friendly Games in the local Games circuit and has something for everyone, young and old alike. On Games Day in Monaltrie Park there are Pipe Bands, piping and highland dancing competitions, track and field events, including the heavies with tossing the caber, tug o’ war, and our hill race up Craig Coillich and back.
We also have a variety of interesting trade stalls and a fun fair, not exclusively for the children, all contributing to a great day out! To complete the day, everyone can enjoy Beating Retreat by the Pipe Bands at 7pm on the Church Green in Ballater.
In 2016 the Games will take place on Thursday 11th August in Monaltrie Park (AB35 5RG). Gates open at 10am, competitions start at 11am, and the formal opening with the raising of the Games Standard is at noon.
Admission prices are: adults £8; children £2; car park £2. Competitors simply pay for admission on the day, and are then free to enter any competitions. There is no pre-booking of tickets, unless by becoming a Patron of the Games, information about which is available on our website: www.ballaterhighlandgames.com.
