
Michael studied at Dundee and Aberdeen and graduated with an Honours Degree in Drawing and Painting, a post-graduate diploma in Art & Design and a Masters Degree in Fine Art.
Known for his Contemporary Scottish Landscape paintings and drawings, Michael paints, exhibits and teaches in the North East of Scotland. On completing his studies at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, Michael toured Europe on a travelling scholarship with the Royal Scottish Academy and won a number of national awards. His weekly art classes currently cater for over 150 enthusiastic students and he leads cultural trips to Italy twice a year. His recent artwork also includes a number of prominent portrait commissions.
During the evening Michael will describe what he is doing and answer questions from the audience. While painting he will explain his techniques of choosing colours, building the composition etc. The painting produced, will be auctioned on the night. The Marcliffe will operate a cash bar before the event and during the interval. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available.
